A Leaked Unaltered Photo of Cindy Crawford Stuns the Web

Cindy Crawford's unretouched image causes a stirCindy Crawford's body is making headlines - but not for the usual reasons. On Friday,an un-retouched image of the supermodel that leaked from a Marie Claire photoshoot causedsome serious hubbub as it began circulating around the Internet. The Photoshop-free snap shows Crawford wearing black lingerie and has been re-posted andre-blogged everywhere. Fans have been giving kudos to both Marie Claire and Crawford fortheir bravery at showing a beautiful woman embracing her flaws.Originally the photo was posted on Twitter and was said to be for an upcoming issue ofMarie Claire magazine that was featuring non-Photoshopped images. But it turns out the picture is actuallythe un-retouched version of the December 2013 cover story from Marie Claire Mexico and LatinAmerica. Marie Claire confirmed the image was a leaked photo. But it is possible Crawford will take the leak in stride. Just last week, the 48-year-oldtalked about aging gracefully to Marie Claire. At the premiere of her documentary Hospitalin the Sky, the mother of two said: "I really think - at any age - it's learning to be comfortablein your own skin. If women would treat themselves with the same kind of love they give to theirfriends, that would be such a great gift we could give ourselves. What makes you the mostattractive is self-confidence. That's what people see."

Save With A Transparent Background (Photoshop CC Tutorial)

In this video we'll take a look at how to save your artwork with a transparent background using Photoshop CC. so ideally it's best to create your artwork on layers and create those layers above the background layer. the background layer is typically the bottom-most layer in most compositionsand usually that's filled with a white color like you see herenow if you hide that white color you'll see this checkerboard patternthis checkerboard pattern represents transparency. anywhere you see these checkers, is fully transparentif we were to print this image, nothing would be printed in this checkered areaonly here in the center where there's pixelsif I were to turn this background back on and we were to print this, it would print with a white backgroundso it's very important turn that off. now what do you do if your artwork is already on a white background?well there's a couple things you can do. one is you can double-click next to a layerthat will bring up this menu here. and with this first slider down at the bottom, you can reduce the white triangle. now this will subtractany white that's in your piece. you can see here on the highlight of the apple, it's eating away at thatso this is perhaps not the best way to remove the background from this imageyou can also add a mask to remove the background I could select the Magic Wand Tool and select the background. click on the mask icon in the layers palette and then click on invert in the propertiesand you can see that does a pretty good job of removing the background.if we want, we can add a layer for the background and we can fill that with a grey color and that way we'll be able to see how good of a job we did on this mask. I think we need to refine the mask a little bit more. so I will click within the mask iconand choose "mask edge"and then I'll shift the mask edge a littleand turn on smart radius. and maybe smooth it just a little bitand that does a pretty good job of masking out the background. click on OKand now if I go ahead and turn off the background, you can see that the background is masked awaynow how do we save this and keep the background transparent?there are a couple of different ways we can do this. the first is, we can go to FileSave For Web and we can choose the preset of PNG 24this will give you a pretty good quality save for the web. make sure that transparency is checkedand then click save. the other way to do this is to go to File, Save As. some of these formats support transparency and some do notPhotoshop PSD, Photoshop PDF, PNG and TIFF are file formats that work really well for saving transparencythe JPEG format does not save image transparency. so don't select JPEG if you're trying to save a transparent background.let's go ahead and choose the TIFF file format and click saveand we'll get some more options here. go ahead and check LZW for image compression. that'll make the file size smallermake sure that save transparency is checked and then under layer compression choose to discard layers and save a copy if you don't need your layers typically, this is the best option for TIFF because saving a TIFF with layers makes the file size really largego ahead and click OK and that will save your file without a background if you found this information helpful, take a quick second to like this video and share it with your friends.and don't forget to click the subscribe button to get updates when I release new videos. I'll see you next Thursday for another Photoshop tutorial

Photoshop: Create Dawn on a Planetary Horizon in Deep Space

Hi. This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV. I'm going to show you how to create this cloud-covered,planet illuminated at its horizon from a bright star in deep space. Create a new document by going to File and New. Make the Width: 1550 pixels, the Height: 870 pixels and the Resolution: 150 pixels per inch. The color mode is RGB and 8 bits per channel. We'll fill it with black. First, make sure your foreground and background colors are blackand white respectively. If they aren't, press "D" on your keyboard. Since black is the foregroundcolor, press Alt or Option + Delete. This will be the document that we'll use to completeour deep space scene. We'll make another document to create the texture for our planet. Thistime, press Ctrl or Cmd + N. Make the Width and the Height: 5000 pixels each. Go to Filter, Render and Clouds. Go back to Filter, Render and "Difference Clouds". To create a more complex texture, repeat the this filter by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + F five or six times.Go to Filter, Distort and Spherize. Make the Amount: 100% and click OK. Repeat the filter one more time to spherize it more. To cut the sphere out from its background, open your Elliptical Marquee Tool and place your cursor on the upper, left corner. Press and holdShift as you drag a circular selection to the lower, right corner. We're going to makethe selection a little smaller to ensure it's not including any of the background. To dothis, go to Select and Transform Selection.Click the chain-link to lock the Width and the Height together. Whatever we type into either one will be repeated in the other.Go to the Width or the Height and type in 98%. Notice, now, they're both 98%. To accept it, press Enter or Return or click the checkmark.Press Ctrl or Cmd + J to cut and copy it to its own layer. To get your planet into the other document, press "v" to open your MoveTool and drag it onto the tab of the other document. Without releasing your mouse or pen, drag it down on the black background and release. Drag it to a position, so yousee the top and side of the planet. Let's brighten it by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + Shift + L to invoke "Auto Tone". Press Ctrl or Cmd on the thumbnail of your planet to make aselection of its shape. We'll contract and feather the selection by going to Select,Modify and Contract. Contract it 3 pixels and click OK. Go back to Select, Modify and Feather. Feather it 3 pixels. Click the Layer mask icon to make a a layer mask of the selection next to the planet. Now, our planet has a slightly soft edge that will blend well intothe light from the star that we'll be adding later. Click the planet to make it active and change its Blend Mode to "Screen".Make a copy of it by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + J.Make the middle layer active. Change its blend mode to "Normal". Click the foreground color to open the Color Picker. In its hexadecimal field, type in: 004EFF. Then, click OK or press Enter or Return. Now, our foreground color is the color we just typed in. We're going to fill the middle layer with the foreground color. To do this, press Alt or Option + Delete. The reason we an see the texture of the planet is because we changed the planet's blend modeto "Screen". Next, we'll add a blue aura around the edge of our planet. Click on the chain-link between the blue color and its layer mask to unlock it. Doing this allow us to move or resize the layer or the layer mask independently of each other. Click the layer mask to make it active. Zoom out of your document by pressing Ctrl or Cmd and the "minus" key on your keyboard.Open your Transform Tool by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + T. Go to the top, left corner andwhen you see a diagonal, double-arrow, press and hold Shift as you drag out the Transformapproximately this much. We want to bring in the corners closer to the planet. To dothis, click the Warp icon. This allows us to warp the Transform by dragging individualpoints and lines. Go to the top, right corner and drag it to the edge of the planet. Dothe same to the lower, left corner. Then, click the checkmark or press Enter or Return.Go to Filter, Blur and Gaussian Blur. Blur it 20 pixels and click OK or press Enter or Return. To fit it back onto your canvas, press Ctrl or Cmd + 0. Next, we'll add a subtleglow at the edge. Click the New Layer icon to make a new layer. Change the blend modeto "Overlay". Invert the foreground and background colors by clicking this icon. Open your Brush Tool and open your Brush Picker. Make the Size: 800 pixels, the Hardness: 0% and theOpacity & Flow: 100%. Hover your cursor directly over the edge and left-click once. Make the blue layer active and make a copy of it by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + J. Make the lower, blue layer active and we'll fill it with white, which is the foreground color. Press Alt or Option + Delete. Make the layer mask next to it active and open your Transform Tool. To see the Transform's entire bounding box, press Ctrl or Cmd + 0.Go to the top, left corner and when you see a diagonal, double-arrow, press and hold Shiftas you drag it in approximately this much.Drag it to a position, so you see a bright glow at the widest part. Warp the Transform and, as before, drag the corners to the edge of the planet. Press Enter or Return and fit it back onto your canvas. Next, we'll shroudour planet in shadow with just a section of the horizon illuminated. Make the planet active and make a copy of the layer. Change its blend mode to Normal. Click this icon to revert the foreground and background colors to black and white, respectively. Fill the top layer with black and make the layer mask next to it, active. Make your brush larger by pressing the right bracket key on your keyboard.Press it three times. Hover your cursor over the edge and left-click once. Next, we'll add stars behind the planet. Scroll to the bottom of the Layers panel and make the background active. Go to Filter, Noise and Add Noise.Make the Amount: 30%, Gaussian and Monochromatic. Then, click OK or press Enter or Return.Go back to Filter, Blur and Gaussian Blur. Blur it point 5 pixels and click OK or press Enter or Return. Open Levels by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + L. In the Input black field, I'll type in: 70 and in the Input white field, I'll type in: 160. Feel free to experiment with these amounts to get just the right combination of brightness and quantity. Next, we'll adda bright star at the planet's horizon. Scroll to the top of your Layers panel and make the top layer active. Make a composite snapshot of your image by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E on Windows or Cmd + Shift + Option + E on a Mac.Go to Filter, Render and Lens Flare.Make the Brightness: 100% and the Lens Type: 35mm Prime. Drag the lens flare to a positionright on the edge of the planet, centered over the brightest part of the glow. If it'snot positioned exactly where you want it, undo the last step by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + Z and reposition it until it's correct.Let's mask out this large, circular lens flareand replace it with a prism emanating from the star. To mask out this part of the lensflare, click the Layer Mask icon to make a layer mask next to the composite snapshot.Make your brush smaller by pressing the left bracket key a few times. Brush over the areato mask it out and be careful not to brush over the main part of the lens flare. Lastly, we'll add the prism effect. Click the New Layer icon to make a new layer. Open your Gradient Tool and open your Gradient Picker.Click the gear icon to open your list of gradient presets.Click "Special Effects". When you see this window, click OK to replace the currentgradients with the gradients form Special Effects. Click this gradient, which is called "Russell's Rainbow". Click the "Angle" gradient.Place your cursor at the upper, left of the red ring of the lens flare and press and hold Shiftas you drag a vertical line to the bottom of your document. Change the blend mode to "Screen" and reduce its opacity to 30%. Next, we'll mask out the part of the prism that extends above the white star, as well as, make the bottom of the prism a bit more transparent.Click the Layer Mask icon to make a layer mask next to the prism. Press "B" to open your Brush Tool and make its opacity 100%.Brush over the prism above the white star to mask it out. Before we brush over the prism on the bottom, zoom out of your document.Reduce your brush's opacity to 50% and make your brush bigger. Brush once across the bottom of your prism and fit your document back on your canvas. This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV. Thanks for watching!

Photoshop: Make a Multi-Directional, Optical Illusion, Photo Portrait

Hi. This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV. I'm going to show you how to create a surreal, trippy, multi-directional portrait from a face photographed in profile and the sameface photographed facing forward. For illustration purposes, I provided this face facing forwardand in profile, so you can follow along. Because they're not for redistribution, I embeddedwatermarks on them, but you can apply the techniques that I'll be showing you to yourown photos. The first step is to make a selection around your subject, so we can isolate theface from the background. There are many to make selections, but for this example, I'lluse the Quick Selection Tool. I'll use a size of 9 pixels and drag over the subject untilher face is completely selected. At the top, click the Refine Edge button or you can go to Select and Refine Edge. I did an in-depth tutorial on Refine Edge, so to save time,I won't be going over all the details here.Check "Smart Radius" and increase the Radius a little. Brush over the hair and output it as a New Layer with Layer Mask. Then, click OK. Notice, in the Layers panel, you now have a new layer with a layer mask of the selectionnext to it. Open the file of the subject facing forward. Make a selection around the subject, refine its edge and brush over the hair. This time, save it as a "New Layer". Make the bottom layer visible and active. We'll fill it with white. First, make sure your foreground andbackground colors are black and white, respectively. If they aren't press "D" on your keyboard.Since the background color is white, press Ctrl or Cmd + Delete. Open back up your subject's profile. We need to place it into the "face forward" document. Press "v" toopen your Move Tool and drag the image onto the profile's tab. Without releasing yourmouse or pen, press and hold Shift as you drag it down on the image and release. PressingShift kept this document centered. Drag the top layer below the middle layer and dragthe layer mask next to the middle layer. Temporarily hide the top layer by clicking off the eyeball next to it. Click off the chain link between the middle layer and the layer mask. Thiswill allow us to move and resize the layer and/or the layer mask independently of eachother. Click the layer to make it active. To resize and position the face, so the lipsare synced up with the lips of the profile, open your Transform Tool by pressing Ctrlor Cmd + T. First, go inside the Transform and drag your image, so the lips are alignedwith the lips on the profile. To enlarge the face, go to a corner and when you see a diagonal,double-arrow, press and hold Shift as you drag the corner out. When the face is sizedand aligned to its profile counterpart, press Enter or Return. Next, we'll replace the face forward nose with nose from the profile. If you look at it long enough, this creates amind-bending, optical illusion that melds two different perspectives of the same face. Make the profile visible and active. Click the Layer mask icon to make a layer mask next to the profile.Invert the layer mask by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + I.Invert your foreground and background colors by pressing "x" on your keyboard. Open your Brush Tool and open your Brush picker.I'll make the size of 90 pixels. The Hardness is 0% and the Opacity and Flow are both 100%.Brush over the area to reveal the profile nose. To mask out areas, press "x" to place black on your brush and before you start brushing again, make your brush smaller by pressingthe left bracket key on your keyboard. This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV. Thanks for watching!

Easiest Way to Learn Photoshop Elements

I need to know the easiest way to learn Photoshop Elements.Stand outside a Maya 3D class and say Photoshop rocks. Collect all the books they throw atyou and run, hoping some of them are Photoshop. Most of them would be user guides to other graphic software applications. So stand outside a Blender class, offering to take and burn their Photoshop books forfree. If I wanted to learn from books, I could go to the library. But I learn better by doing, especially such complicated processes as creating graphics.Try a meet up of Photoshop Elements users and listen to their presentations. That would be about as boring as the genealogy meeting I went to once.So try the Adobe.com Photoshop Elements getting started tutorials.I'd hope they have decent material, given how much the software costs. It starts with how to install the software, how to import files you made in prior versionsor other applications -In short, getting set up to use it.It then moves on to editing and compositing, the actual use of the software. It is good that they have the how to set it up tutorials first. Otherwise it is like thedata management software lecture where you know how to create a change notice but donot know how to log in and fill out your time card.If you do not want to read a lot of help screens, TV.adobe.com has video tutorials on how touse the product.Half of it being ads for the other Adobe products. It cannot be worse than the Adobe Photoshop Elements demos on Youtube that advertise theartist's work screaming hire me to make your book cover or multimedia website intro. Is the Adobe TV tutorial simple enough that I can understand it? Too much tech supportis written for other system admins, ignoring beginners like me.Not only do they have simple demos like how to print or apply tonal corrections, but theyshow you how to do some things like setting up mobile albums in both the Photoshop Elementsand Premier Elements. That's nice, since many classes do not tell you they are dealing with the Premier versionuntil after you paid a premium price to sign up.You could go to Skillfeed.com and review their free lessons on using various tools in PhotoshopElements. Each class won't be an in depth for dummies presentation, but you won'tfeel stupid as they run through how to use the clone stamp. And I'll get more out of it than struggling to step through the steps in the PhotoshopElements for not so bright people.
